About the collection

The image on every piece is taken from a fresco by Cimabue, painted in the Basilica of San Francesco in Assisi within living memory of Francis himself. It is among the oldest known portraits of the man. He has been watching pilgrims from that wall for eight hundred years.

Pax et Bonum — Peace and Good — was Francis's universal greeting. He said it to strangers, lepers, merchants, and bishops without distinction. Not a theological proposition. Just an offer. It remains the greeting of the Franciscan family to this day.
